Terrebonne in brief

Terrebonne is Montreal's third-largest suburb, north of Laval across the Rivière des Mille-Îles. Lachenaie, founded in 1683 by Charles Aubert de Lachenaye, is the oldest of the three former towns now under one name.

Abbot Louis Lepage de Ste-Claire bought the Terrebonne seigneury in 1720 and soon added a church, manor, sawmill, and flour mill. La Plaine grew along a lords' road later called boulevard Laurier. On 22 August 2001 the three cities merged into today's Terrebonne.
