This ranking is built from the same Health Canada Cross-Canada Survey of Radon Concentrations in Canadian Homes that supplies every city page on the OpenStats radon topic site. Each row opens the hometown ranking page for that community. Communities without a published radon figure in the survey are not included.

The communities at the top of this list cluster in a few regions: parts of the Prairie provinces, the Kootenay region of British Columbia, and pockets of the Canadian Shield. Those elevated averages in the Health Canada survey track uranium content and soil permeability in the local bedrock. Building style and maintenance matter for an individual house, but they do not explain why whole regions sit higher on this list.
A community average is a useful signal for regional radon potential, but it describes the geography, not any single house. Foundation type, sump pit design, and how tightly a building is sealed all affect indoor radon independently of location, so a home in a community near the bottom of this list can still test above the 200 Bq/m³ guideline, and a home in a community near the top can test well below it. The only way to know the concentration in a specific house is to test that house.

Health Canada's C-NRPP directory lists radon measurement and mitigation professionals by region for households that test above the guideline and need a sub-slab depressurization system installed and verified.
