Brockville

Thousand Islands city with a tunnel underfoot

Brockville in brief

Brockville calls itself the City of the 1000 Islands, perched on the St. Lawrence where St. Lawrence Iroquoians and later the Oswegatchie lived before Loyalist settlers arrived in 1784. The town took its name from British general Sir Isaac Brock.

Canada's oldest railway tunnel runs under downtown and reopened as a lit pedestrian walkway after decades closed. Fulford Place and the Aquatarium round out a waterfront that has been a stopping place for centuries.
