Walk or drive through Terrace long enough and Ferry Island comes up. Skeena park and municipal campground with trails and tree carvings, also the fireworks vantage for Riverboat Days. Walkers use it year-round.
August belongs to Riverboat Days, the northwest's largest community festival, stretching from the BC Day weekend through a full program of Legion Parade, Beach Blast Volleyball, Concerts in the Park at Centre Stage, and Fireworks over Ferry Island. The City has even run free transit for festival weekends. Ferry Island itself is a 150-acre municipal park and campground on the Skeena a few kilometres from downtown, open to walkers year-round when the campsites are closed.
