Island park and camping near downtown on the Saint-Maurice. Close enough for a city evening, green enough to feel like a getaway.
Walk or drive through Shawinigan long enough and Parc de l'île Melville comes up. Island park and camping near downtown on the Saint-Maurice. Close enough for a city evening, green enough to feel like a getaway.
Cité de l'énergie is the big named draw: industrial heritage, the Tour d'observation Hydro-Québec, and Musée du Premier ministre Jean Chrétien inside the same complex. Centrale Shawinigan-2 remains a working hydro plant that also takes tour traffic, so power history is not mothballed nostalgia. Amphithéâtre Québecor rotates for larger nights on the Cité site when the calendar calls for a bigger stage. Parc de l'île Melville keeps camping and park days close enough to downtown that you can still hear city traffic across the channel. Cousins get one clear outing list without needing a second city.
