Four treatment plants and about 2,800 km of potable distribution mains feed sector networks that can support each other when needed. City also operates 23 drinking-water reservoirs.
Lac and rivière Saint-Charles are the region’s main supply; roughly one-fifth of distributed water is drawn from the St. Lawrence at Sainte-Foy. Interim watershed control rules protect Saint-Charles and Montmorency intake basins.
