Wapiti River
Aquatera transmits treated water into city and regional lines; raw-water storage ponds and intakes sit on the Wapiti. A reservoir expansion at the plant is intended to add days of potable storage for outages and maintenance.
The former Bear River / Grande Prairie Reservoir waterworks are no longer the drinking-water source; that reservoir is now a park amenity while the city relies on the Wapiti.
Aquatera Water Treatment Plant
Regional utility plant south of the city near 100 Street; treats Wapiti River water for Grande Prairie and regional customers including Sexsmith, Wembley, and parts of the County of Grande Prairie.
