Three supply mainlines deliver Calgary-treated water into Airdrie’s treated-water reservoirs, then into a city-operated distribution network of mains, valves, and hydrants. Calgary delivers bulk water to the city boundary; Airdrie owns transmission and retail distribution beyond that point.
Airdrie’s long-standing servicing agreement with Calgary (decades) means feeder-main outages in Calgary can force matching conservation measures in Airdrie. Local Nose Creek and East Lake sources are not used for the municipal potable supply.
City of Calgary plants (Bearspaw and Glenmore) — wholesale supply
Airdrie purchases treated potable water from Calgary; no local raw-water treatment plant for the municipal system.
